It's probably a risky prediction on my part, but I'm going with the Oakland A's. I mention it being risky because of the overwhelming amount of injuries this team has had this year. And so much of their ability to make the playoffs is going to depend on them being healthy. Particularly, Frank Thomas and Milton Bradley. Oakland went out and got these players before the season to give some offensive pop to their lineup. And when they've played, they've produced that. But both are just about as fragile as glass. One has to wonder if Billy Beane is going to make a move before the trading deadline.

In terms of pitching, the team has done remarkably well without Rich Harden. And it doesn't look like he'll be back until September, if at all this year. But Zito has put the team on his shoulders and returned to Cy Young form. Haren and Blanton have done a good job holding the staff together. And the middle relief is superb, finishing off with closer Street.

It's a bold prediction, but I like the A's chances.

I love that the previous response says it's a "risky" choice to pick the A's. They're in first place right now! It would be risky to pick the Mariners...

I'm going with the Rangers for a number of reasons, first being that I'm a huge fan, so you've always gotta root for your team. Second, because they're getting healthy for the stretch run. Third, because they have the most favorable schedule. And last, but not least, because I hate the A's, Angels and Mariners!

Angels because they have vlad gurrero and if they pick up another bat before the trade deadline they will conquer the worst division in baseball.

A's because they always make a ridiculous run towards the end of the season and sneak into the playoffs.

A's. The Big Hurt is finally going to come through for them.
