Let me rephrase my previous question. There are three authors that have wrote both fiction and non fiction that where best sellers. I know for sure that Hemingway was one; Jimmy Buffet was two I am looking for the 3rd. The 3rd I know is a male author from the early 20th century. So my question is who is that author?

Hunter S. Thompson
Kurt Vonnegut, in the sense that Palm Sunday and a couple of others are opinion/essay/memoir.

If you are referring to the NY Times list, then there are actually seven authors. Jimmy Buffett, John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway, Mitch Albom, William Styron, Irving Wallace, and Dr. Seuss.
