He is passing because subconciously he has a self-hatred for his Hispanic heritage. He also believes that it is the White race that is superior and therefore he wants to partake in all of the advantages he believes that being White will bring him. My suggestion? He needs to seek therapy. He needs to recognize and understand his need to not accept and/or reveal his true self. Advise: Always remember, when you lie about who you really are you can never really find true love. Why? Because the other person can only love the person you portray and because you don't reveal and portray your true self, you can never really feel loved for who you are.

The problem is your focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

WHAT??? It seems to me that you are a little on the racist side. What makes the difference what he passes as? AND this person, is not a close friend. If he were, you would not be asking such a question on Yahoo answers. You are deceiving your so called close friend. God made us all. Everyone's blood is red. What do I pass as???? The color of someones skin or regardless of his or her background, does not gives us the right to choose what that person is or will be. I feel for your so called friend, because he feels he has a true friend and he doesn't and maybe he never did. Thank you for your question and you have a great day.

What? Why is passing off as white wrong? I'm half Chinese, a quarter Mexican, and a quarter caucasian. I look more caucasian than anything though. Just because I don't want to walk down the street with baggy pants or hang out by home depot (lol stereotypes) or be your generic chinese guy, it doesn't mean I'm denying any cultural things.

Hiya, Amo, I have a question back to you. When you meet people, do you explain every bit of your blood lines? Everyone these days is part "something." Most people don't feel the necessity to explain what their heritage is. If you are concerned that he will lose his Hispanic heritage, help him to explore that side of himself. If it were me, I would also encourage him to LEARN THE LANGUAGE. It is helpful in life and it will help him stay in contact with his elders on one side of the family. English is the language of the U.S., but having both at his command is a smart thing to do.

P.S. I happen to be an Anglo (part Irish, part Austrian, part Scott. My granddaughter is all of that, plus part Hebrew and part Mexican - first one in the family to have BROWN eyes... everyone thinks they are BEAUTIFUL!!). It's all in your perspective.

No. I don't see this as wrong. To emphasize that he is Hispanic shows prejudice. I think he should be proud of his heritage but that is all.I know a lot of people that are full Hispanic and do not look it. Don;t deny it but be proud of it!

It isn't wrong. He's American really. That's the problem with today's generation and racism. that's your opinion that he passes as white. He is probably just being him. Let him shine! Don't Playa-hate him

let me first state my family make up . german, hispanic , native american and english. now thats out of the way. i feel that its not wrong for him to "pass" as white since his family is part white. should he also be proud of his hispanic heritage? hell yes ! but one part of your family make up doesnt cancel the other. and yes , i do look very white but with dark brown hair and blue eyes. my son is darker than i am and looks more hispanic or native american .

How is this wrong? I'm half Asian and half Caucasian and I pass for Hispanic, Asian, and Native American. I'm not offended by any of that, nor do I think its wrong.
