Positives
Gerbils have many features that make them excellent pets. Probably their greatest advantage is that they are desert animals and have a very efficient use of food and water. The benefit of this for a pet owner is that they produce little urine and their cages do not need to be cleaned as frequently as other rodent pets.
Another major positive to gerbils is that they are absolutely fearless. People have speculated that this may be due to a limited number of predators in their home environment or that nothing in their "pet" environment pushes their buttons. Since the animals are not afraid, they are generally easier to tame, and their response to new stimuli is generally to explore (they are very curious) or flee rather than to bite.
Negatives
The only negative I can think of with gerbils is their incessant gnawing and scratching. This makes it impossible to use plastic cages. If left in a plastic cage for permanent housing, they will eventually gnaw their way out. If left in one for a short time, they will usually scratch the sides to an extent that within a few weeks, the plastic will be sufficiently scratched that you will not be able to see through it.

there realy sweet. dont pick them up by the tail like you do with a mouse (gerbal tails fall off) you shouldn't realy mix two gerbals together but you can if you want, 2 boys might fight realy bad, a boy and girl with make babies (like crazy), two girls should do OK together. If you dont know how to tell its the same way you do with a dog or a person. but just 2 bumps. (lol i feel odd saying this) on a male none on a girl. LOL
hope i helped.

They bite. They eat their young if you dont take the male out when babies are born. They are protective of their young and if they get a hold of something like a finger they wont let go.Cashew nuts are poison to them. They like fresh vegies. They need an excercise wheel. They sleep all day and make noise all night.

Rodents teeth continue to grow throughout their life. Make sure to supply plenty of stuff for them to chew on.
