No, I don't think he was. The best drummer in that time was Keith Moon (of the Who) Just my opinion only.

Somebody said Ringo "wasn't the best drummer in the world" to which John Lennon famopusly replied " He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles!".

It was Ringo's personality which made him great. The "best" of anything is an americanism which doesn't apply to music.

The Beatles were the most successful group of all time. Their early music needed a crap drummer and Ringo was ideal. By the 1970s, their music was developing and Ringo was learning. He became quite good, but he was never great.

Ringo was the best drummer for the Beatles as he could keep good time and he was witty and funny. Can u imagine a flash jazz drummer in the beatles it would be ridiculous.

as many have pointed out, it is spelled Ringo Starr (aka Richard Starkey). and even though i am no connoussieur (however, i can't spell that) of rock music, i am obsessed with the Beatles and have heard enough other rock to know that Ringo isn't amazing. he is good, no doubt, but not the same level for his instrument/voice/songwriting as the others. he and John were the biggest characters though, and he was still an integral member of the group. but for a band that was more guitar and singing/lyrics oriented, it didn't matter so much that Ringo couldn't do really flashy drumming.

Well it's actually Ringo Starr, and even he probably would admit he's not the best drummer. Just a very lucky and likable guy with a certain amount of talent.

Real Name: Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr).
He was very good, that's why the Beatles
manager, Brian Epstein, chose him to take
the place of The Beatles former drummer, Pete
Best...

Firstly it's Ringo Starr.
Secondly my personal favourite drummers are Vinnie Paul (Pantera, Damageplan), Joey Jordison (Slipknot) and Adrian Erlandson (Cradle Of Filth).

actually, no, it's Ringo Starr. as for whether or not he was the best drummer...depends on the style of music. there are many different sorts of drummers out there. jazz, rock, metal, funk, etc.
Ringo was a great drummer in that he played what was appropriate for the song he was playing (many drummers don't understand that principle, they overdo it) and he has solid rhythm.

Good God not even close hes a hack.

If you want to know the best drummer look to a different music genera perhaps Jazz which is much more complex style of percussion or Latin music. My opinion Rod Morganstien of the Dixie Dregs is top notch. And not to forget Bad Steve Gadd!!!!

I will agree that in rock Danny Carey is tough to beat as well

Ringo Starr ROFALMAO
