Using a birth ball will encourage pelvic rocking which can help during labor. It can help to open up your pelvic outlet. It can encourage good posture and less problems with back or pubic bone pain during the pregnancy as well.

The links below have some pictures of positions. That will probably be more helpful than trying to describe them.

Are you going natural? The ball is great to use in the fisrt stages of labor . Sitting on it and rocking back and forth is a great way to help the baby decend into the pevis and that in turn can help dilation. you can also use the ball to squat in front of it and roll onto it slightly it has the same effect. What ever you do don't just lay in the bad it makes everything go so much slower. Move around and let gravity get the baby down into the pelvic area. Walking is also good.

evidently relaxes the pelvic muscle mass once you sit down on it. and canhelp deliver the child down. I used then for bit for the time of both one in all my labors. For me, sitting up changed into the acceptable position. i'd zone out in the course of the contraction do my respiration and rock on the ball. it is truly worth a attempt. in case you don't love it, only get off.

Birth balls are great. I used one during my daughter's birth and now I'm a doula they are indispensable. Here is some info on them. There are descriptions of different positions in those links too.

Happy birthing!

it helps with opening up your pelvis and giving the baby more room to come down alot of midwifes use them to aid their patients. ive seen women have them on the foot of the bed and just lean their upper body on it and rock their hips back and forth and some women sit on it and either rock their hips or bounce a little to help the baby come down either way they say that it causes less problems when your in any other position besides your back its all about whats comfortable for you
