let's remember that your tax money is taken away from schools, roads, public assistance programs etc. that are meant to help LAW abiding citizens in order to keep murderers, rapist, child abusers alive and eating three meals a day. YOU PAY FOR THIS DAILY!!! After the scum murders a store owner for a few hundred dollars and cigs and beer, his family gets to pay taxes to keep his sorry *** alive until he dies in jail, or gets out and does it again----that's BS to me. I you KNEW you would hang from a rope if you murdered another human being---you may think twice about commiting that crime---barbaric my butt-more like eye for eye-locking um up AIN'T working. Take a look around--Crime rules because people are too soft hearted and care more about the criminal than the victims!!!!

No. The public display of capital punishment is barbaric and does not deter crimes.

One major problem with the death penalty is that it often costs more to execute a prisoner than it does to have him or her serve life in prison without parole. This is usually eaten up in the appeals process and extra security for death row. Of course, this is how our judicial system has evolved, where we get to the point that we not only want to be sure that the accused committed the crime, but also if it is worth the expense of carrying out a death sentence.

In terms of public executions, there were reasons why that began to be scaled away. It turns out that it served as no real deterrent in terms of crimes being committed, so all it was really good for was the grim spectacle of it. I think that as a civilisation, we have rightfully put that blood-thirst behind us.

It's pretty easy to say that certain people who commit horrendous crimes are deserving of not only death, but death in the most gruesome way imaginable. However, is that really justice, or simply vengeance? Does it really do anything constructive so victims and their families? It might bring about a sense of closure, but I doubt that as a society closure is well met by causing the death of another person.

The punishement should be so harsh and should be before public, that it leads to stop for final and good for hard core criminals.
1. Publically should be caned, 100 times with cane fixed with thron.
2. Should be publically lashed the second day.
3. One eye and should be removed in public.
4. One had and one leg should be cut off and should be made him beg.
5. Finally he should feel the death, slowly inch by inch he should die.

no let's not take a step back and become barbaric. Mistakes do happen, and one person killed in error is one too many.
Also what about the people who would actually be responsible for the hangings, how would they be selected? What sort of effect would it have on their mental health, and their families wellbeing? Revenge attacks from angry friends and families. it just could never work, and I wouldn't want it to

It's all according to what they did. I don't usually answer these kind of questions, but I absolutely believe that child molestors, child abusers, and abusers of old people don't deserve to live.

I don't believe they can be rehabilitated and I think it is our responsiblity as a people to protect our children and our elders.

If they are quilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, then I believe hanging would be to good for them.

Yes, definitely. If someone admits guilt or no reasonable doubt within a jury for capital crimes then they should be hanged immediately.

ew. disgusting. so you are saying that because these people were violent, we should show more people how to be violent?
public hangings would promote violence because people will feel more comfortable watching suffering and death. Also, hanging is such an awful and slow way to die. I dont want people to think it is a good idea.
so, my answer is NO.

yes, hard core criminals should be hanged.....because we are spending our tax dollars keeping them alive..... so if they are gone.. we can put the money to public good use.
