From what I understand (or what I've been told) is that they are a terrorist nation. But whose looking at the definition of terrorism. There are those who feel the United States are a terrorist nation and you have to stop and think "are we just killing the bad guy?" And the answer to that is most certainly not. There are thousands of Iraqi civilians who have died by U.S. bombs or guns. If you don't believe me you are foolish to think so. War doesn't just kill soldiers it kills civilians too. So back to your question. Is Syria a terrorist nation, no they are recognized by the US and UN as a nation. As far as I can tell they are not run by terrorists but they do support terrorism. And no one was calling them a terrorist nation until problems started with Lebanon and Israel. So the terrorist label fits nicely so that uninformed people can understand that they are bad guys.

After saying all that I believe your question has no real answer. See what other people think:

If there is anything we should have learnt from shift in power structures all over the world is that one man's fight for self-governance is to another an act of terrorism. So let us be flippant and myopic about the real issues behind the violence in the Middle East. The tactics of Hezbollah may appear extreme to many people but they are clearly effective, which I would imagine would be the point.

Also, have we stopped to qtn the validity of one govt to wage war agst another soverign nation in order to root out terrorist organizations? What about the innocent citizens of the country who are caught in the crossfire? (Not the most severe air strikes were in Christian occupied areas). Are these people nothing more than just collateral damage? In which case what is the difference btw that kind of action and the kind of behaviour these terrorist groups enagge in such as use of suicide bombers?

What do you mean by a naming a WHOLE country as a terrorist? Are you trying to imply that all Syrians are descendants of the devil?

If you are saying so because Syria is a Muslim country, well yeah it is dubbed as so, but many people of other religions are Syrian, like Christians. I bet by the time you know this now you will no longer call it an entirely terrorist country. You know what, discrimination just sux. Thanks to the media.

In conclusion: People, please quit being ignorant.

What's the definition of terrorism? people who kill innocent people for no reason, right? FOR NO REASON!
otherwise, each and every country who has even been in a war is a terrorist country, including the USA, right?
So, if there is war...u fight...u defend, etc. But but but, "try" not to kill too many civilians (or else u will be tried for war crimes...yea right)...In the Middle east and statistically Israel has killed at least 10 times more inncocent people than all other "parties" combined!
Ok so why the hell is Hezbollah a terrorist organization? Historically, they defended their own country (Lebanon for u history wizards out there). They managed to kick the occupying force out (Israel) in 2000 (with the exception of Shibaa villages).
Our government (Israel's slave) will condemn anyone who poses a threat for its master and label them as terrorist.
And we, the very educated Americans, we LOVE and TRUST our government and whatever it says... we get our information from Hollywood and lately from CNN...READ people READ some history book and wake up!

No. Calling them that implies that ever citizen is involved in terrorist activities. The Syrian gov't and some Syrian citizens are mixed up in that and need to be held accountable. But the whole country? No. I think you'll find that everywhere in the world, people are generally good people.

Yes, they support Hezbullah and send men into Iraq to stop democracy. No one even questions their terrorist leanings.
