I mean in some cases its not there fault that they are fat why do people make fun?

I am asking this cause my boyfriend and our roomate will sit and make fun of fat people on TV and it makes me upset.

The vast majority (well over 90%) of people who are fat do not have a medical condition that causes them to be fat.
People are fat because they consume more Calories than they burn. The more they eat, the fatter they become. It is a choice, not a disease.
Don't get sucked into this bleeding-heart non-sense about "its because they are different" or "they can't help it." Every single time a fat person buys food, it is a choice. Every single time they sit in front of the TV instead of going for a walk or to the gym, they are making a choice. Every time they prepare a meal, eat the meal that is too big, eat desert, drink soft-drinks, eat candy, eat junk food..... it is a choice.
I don't understand why fat people are not made fun of more. People who make bed decisions many times a day, every day, year after year should be made fun of - LOL
Of course I do not just go around ridiculing people - I don't think that is justified, but you should not feel bad for these people. There is no reason (other than being lazy and undisciplined) for people to be fat.

Because so many parents have raised their children to not have any consideration for others. They are so self centered it doesn't occur to them that other people have feeling also. They get a kick out of hurting others.
Look at all of the school shootings. They were all done by kids who were made fun of and tormented by their peers.
Lastly others make fun of fat people because it hasn't happened to them... yet.

Because skinny people are so afraid of getting fat, that they must put down fat people, instead of understanding what can make someone gain weight, even if they don't want to, and eat healthy and correctly.

look all around you, there are differences in people everywhere that get made fun of, most people make fun of other people to make themselves feel more secure, or to be the "funny" one in the crowd

People are mean and don't care about people. Selfish, inconsiderate goons who will cry when people look at them and laugh eventually. Accidents happen, disease happen, murder happens. You may be perfect one day, and "fat" or imperfect the next. And you bet someone will laugh at you.

usually people make fun of other people to make themselves feel better. Tell your boyfriend it makes you mad and if he is so insecure with himself maybe he should take counselling

i think when people make fun of other people its because they R insecure about their own body.. nobody is perfect and nobody really has room to talk trash about other people no matter what they weigh
