No more than ethics threatens the endeavors of unethical people. Biology does not have to be unethical, but when unethical people use unethical methods, then that particular biological endeavor ought to be curtailed, and left to those more ethical in their methodologies.

But ethics tries to help science evolve but sometimes limits human perversions that arent part of the respect of humans, thats why that limitation is seen as bad for some groups. Science needs limits to be controlled and also to understand human dignity.

Since ethics is basically an opinion, you can not have ethics without disagreement. Is this a threat? It all depends on your opinion of what all these words mean.
