I ordered a cd off ebay. it was in good condition, but on the booklet, there was a sticker that said it was not for sale. It said it on the lable side of the cd. What is this? I have to give it to the library to replace a lost cd so I hope they'll take that one even though it says not for sale.

If it says not for sale it usually means it was on display in a store of some sort. It may have been playing in an electronics store or whatever. I wouldn't necessarily think it's stolen though, depending on how dated the content is. If your library had this same CD, I wouldn't be concerned with that.

If it is labeled "not for sale" that means it was more then likely a promotional CD that was free with the purchase of something else and can not be sold alone. It is labeled that way so that the merchants can not sale the CD itself if the promotional items do not sale.

The CD was given away for free at some point. It was either given to a radio station or just given to people going to a concert or something.

I would imagine they will still take it - the library doesn't plan on selling it, after all.

It was probably a part of a 'set' of cd's or something and not meant to be sold separtely or it was a 'free gift' item (promotional) or something like that. I would think the library would still take it, they aren't planning to sell it

Means it was given out as a promotionary disc. The library will be fine with it I should imagine.

It means it was originally given out as promotional material by the label.

It might have been a promotional disc that was not to be used as a resale item.
