I do this all the time. If it is a digital watch with led screen, it is probably dead and can only be thrown away.
But if it has hands then take the back off and take out the battery. You can put on the stove next to the pilot light if you have a gas stove, if not then use a blow dryer and dry it out. It will take a while for this to dry even if you use the dryer. Let it sit for a day or so and try the battery back in it. I doubt the battery survived the washer, and if it went into the dryer I know it didn't. You may have to buy a new one.
I have saved my mickey mouse watch at least 4 or 5 times. Don't let it sit with the back on it for very long if it is wet inside. It will rust and never work again or the battery will burst open and spill acid inside.

Take the back off of it, and try the hair dryer the others have suggested, but use it on 'low' setting. Also use a new battery, if your watch takes a battery.
If your watch is a mechanical, wind up type.... you can use a small tea cup, and a little lighter fluid to clean out the interior of the watch. Take the back off the watch and simply dip it a few times, and swish it around a bit, in a little lighter fluid... this will not only remove the trapped water, but also any dirt inside the watch... I wouldnt smoke while doing this tho... lol. Then lay the watch out on some paper towels to try... the lighter fluid will evaporate rather quickly, and will cause any water in it to evaporate too.
I remember my dad cleaning his 'work' watch, and mom's jeweler's watch like this, and Ive done it with my own pocket watch... it works.
Take the normal safety precautions of course... no smoking, or open flames in the area you are doing this, and keep it well ventilated.
If the hair dryer doesnt work, and you don't feel safe handling the lighter fluid... take it to a jewelry cleaner (most jewelry stores provide a cleaning service).
Good Luck!

The obvious answer is put it in the dryer. But I don't think that is the best answer.
If it is worth being concerned over, it is worth taking to a jeweler.

Dry it out real good with the blow dryer. Make sure it is all dry before you put in another battery. Hopefully it will work.
