Sure. The ones sold as "birth balls" are no different than exercise balls. If you do a Google search, you will find that they are often refered to as both a "birth ball" and an "exercise ball" in the same articles. I've used an exercise ball/birth ball during pregnancy and in labor with all three of my births.

An exercise ball and a birthing ball are the samethings....just have different names.

I'm not so sure. I have a hard enoug time exercising on the thing, i cant imagine trying to squat out a baby on it.
