I think the Red Sox are going to give him all the chances to succeed since they traded for him in Spring Training. That being said, if Wily Mo continues to hit, they will have to find a place for him in the lineup other than against left-handed pitchers.

Hell no. Pena is NOT a center fielder. He was "adequate" in center but on a scale of one to 10 Pena is a 4 and Coco is a 8.5. The sox have plenty of pop in thier lineup to overcome any struggles with Coco without putting a liability in center with Pena. The sox have had the best defensive team in the league this year, and they are nuts if they are going to change that by putting a 300 lb center fielder in the game. Also did you not see the catch by Coco a couple weeks ago to save the game? That was incredible! The second best catch of the year only because there may have been the best catch ever in Texas. No he doesn't need to watch his back but he definitely needs to wake up at the plate.

I believe Kapler will probably platoon in right field with Nixon instead of Pena. Kapler hits better against lefties than Wily Mo. Pena might split some games in center with Crisp, kind of like what Bip Roberts and Tony Fernandez did for the '97 Indians. The thing is, Roberts could play 2nd base and left field, which allowed the two to play in the same game.
I'm not sure it'll happen, but we could see Crisp play a little bit in the infield. Crisp played a lot of second base in the minors.
From the Red Sox website -- "[Crisp]Made his professional debut with Rookie-level Johnson City after being selected by St. Louis in the 7th round and signing with the organization on June 7...appeared in 64 games at second base"
You never know. And we could see Nixon lead off some games.

No i don't think he has to worry, with Youk struggling at the plate I think Coco should soon go back to the leadoff spot. Wily Mo's role will be the same as it was when he was healthy, which is backup to the 3 outfielders and hit againest the lefties and give Trot the day off.

No, Pena cannot field nearly as well as Coco. True, he can be an ok centerfielder, but wont make great plays. Also, i think the Red Sox want him more for the future. They want him to improve more and not strike out as much.
