or are we all meaningless collections of carbon atoms, for all our complexities.is love just an evolved response and even if it is, does anyone feel the end product of all the chemicals and neural signals which cause love somehow transcends the physics of its creation.or are we all clinging on to morality and love to justify an existance that is without meaning or purpose like agent smith said in matrix.we help someone,do the right thing but what if we slip and fall and die on the way there.where is the meaning of life.if no matter what we do, v get no assured reward or punishment, then what is the basis of morality

"If doing the right thing is dependent on eternal rewards, then humans have a long way to go regarding mental development." that sounds liek a guilt trip no offense.thats still a statement endorsing moral values but how can u call it the right thing if it is purely something governed by atoms and chemicals.if there is no god, no after life, then there is no right or wrong.but that doesnt sound right either.please give scientific answers

Life seems meaningless if we were to stop existing once we die. That's why we believe our souls survive our physical death so that is our eternal identity. I just hope our souls live forever.

As for moral and religious codes, I think they are designed to make sure the majority of the people live peacefully and not cause trouble for others.
So many sins an immoral acts have been committed in history without any really bad consequences that I think it is not our single acts that matter. but it is our collective acts that make the overall good or bad of the society.

the purpose of life, like agent smith said, is to end. but, before it ends, you have a lot of stuff to do, so that your eternal afterlife will be a good, happy, and not flaming with the fires of a thousand evils. these things are the laws God gave, and to sum them up, do your best to make others happy, do your best to keep yourself happy and reverant, and be a good person that is making an effort to make life a better place for those to come, and those who are already there, even if its only a little part

I am not a church goer, but i do believe that is there a higher power, God, becuase your soul cant just die when you do. All that energy has to go on some where. Maybe its reincarnated to another life, maybe you go to heaven. I guess noone will ever know the answer to that question until they die.

i think there is something more after this, i am not an athiest, but i think that God is more alien than religious, and all churchgoers are going too deep into it.
