When searching for news on the government or any other politics, what would be a good source? NPR, CNN, FOX, ABC...? What makes it (or them) so reliable?

the best way to get news is to do the research yourself. For instance, cnn is typically biased a little to the left while fox is biased to the right. However, there is truth in each. So, if you read from both sources, then the commonalities are most likely truth. Can you seperate the facts from the spin? Thats the critical thinking skills that they don't teach anymore in school, a real shame too.

My opinion is that none of them are very reliable, in that all have a certain degree of slant one way or the other on various issues. My advice is to gather news from all sorts of different locations, and try and piece the whole world view together on your own. It's also a good idea to consider information from sources that aren't mainstream. The mainstream media is influenced by allot of different factors like, investors interest, sponsors, Nielsen ratings, etc. Most if not all of these factors aren't an issue for independent sources.

First hand word of mouth...not selectively picked by television interests. You want to know what is going on in an area of the world...talk to someone from that part of the world.

CSPAN they just show what happens and try to avoid making a biased comment about anything. Usually they just point a camera and record. They let YOU interpret what it is that is happening.
