Different people run it. Its like Coke and Pepsi.I asked When we discover other life forms will we let them in our Ms. Universe Pageant?. That would make a difference later on if they change it. Good question. I have asked about Miss Universe. Maybe You would like to learn more about it.

There are two different companies that sponsor them. Just like how in the US there is Miss American and Miss USA. They are pretty much the same in prestige, they just have different corporate sponsors.

I don't know, but I never got the Miss Universe--what did they invite the aliens, but they didn't show up?!
I guess they are the same thing, but run by different groups?

Miss Universe allows contestants from other planets and solar systems to compete whereas Miss World is just for residents of Earth.

If I'm not mistaken, Miss Universe will have more duties to perfom as compared to Miss World. Duties like visiting children's homes, visiting the disabled homes etc etc etc.
