What I am attempting to do is record the input from two different USB mics into Garageband. It does not need to be a stereo pair, more like an interview format. I'm wondering if it is possible or would I be better off getting my hands on an audio interface. Thanks.

The best thing to do is to invest in a cheap 4 track record (tascam is the one i have) -- it has 2 inputs for mics and an output (rca > microphone) that you can plug straight into the back of your computer's line in jack.

I do this for podcasting -- it's a really good setup.
