sadly, our society is based more and more on the thoughts of the Media, and the Media chose to show us that most of the famous pretty blonde are dumb i.e Paris Hilton. It's a trend. I might be wrong but i think this trend really got popular when Reese Witherspoon "Legally Blonde" came out. Also, most prettty blonde are, well Pretty, Beautiful. And our society tends to think that Looks doesn't go with Brain.
But personally, I think that's so naive and untrue. My ex was a natural Blonde and she's as sharp as a pin. you know how Asians are suppose to be smart, well i have a friend that's asian, but acts like a Blonde. Her Nicknames vary from "Asian Blonde" to "Banana"
For me, I think it's not the color of your hair or skin, but who you are. Honestly!

It's a stereotype that many 'pretty' blondes do their best to perpetuate. And it goes way before Jessica Simpson. Think Crissy on Three's Company (and I think they had another dumb blonde later to replace her). There's probably many other examples that I could name, but that's the first that pops into mind. If you really want to blame someone for that stereotype...probably your fellow 'sisters' would be a good place to start. (by the way =) ... loved your answer!)

Because of women like Jessica Simpson and Pamela Anderson. I personally know some very intelligent and pretty blondes. They've been given a bad rap.

You're getting some pretty nasty answers! Touchy subject? I think blondes get a bad rap from girls like Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson. Personally, I think blondes are beautiful...not just because I am one, but that's just my taste. And, come on, as soon as anyone becomes famous they go blonde...Avril Lavigne, Lindsay Lohan, Kelly Clarkson...they all wanna be blonde!

Because it is believed that those with looks do not have to try and those without looks must try harder in life and therefore end up learning more. It is just a common stereotyping in our society that is not necessarily always true. However, by nature, most people will not put out any more effort than is required. So, by default, this assumption tends to be true.

it's not that blonds are dumb cause they are blond.. it's cause stupid women are shallow and only worried about looks, and they dye their hair. so it's blond. They are normally ignorant so therefor the blond girls get known as stupid, when actually the person might be brunet, or whatever..
So that's why people think pretty blonds are superficial, and dumb.

That is because all the pretty blond women seem to have a dumb and dumber genetic decease. When my fiance makes a mistake she says (I HADE A BLOND MOMENT).

I'm blonde, and I think I'm sort of pretty, but my IQ is 154, and I beat society! And none of my friends think blondes are dumb, and most of the blondes I know are rather intelligent...

I think it is because they may have encountered dumb pretty girls who happen to be blonde. Also the media portrays blondes as dumb and slutty. Just prove them wrong.
