I have got a LG TFT monitor with no built in speakers and does not appear to have a speaker connection at the back, can I get over this problem or do I need to buy one with built in speakers?

the ports are not on the monitor they r on the hd and they are pink green ... and look at the back and see if theres a sound card you will see two sets of theses ports if there are try both with the external speakers....

It is not needed to hook up the speakers to monitor. You can use/buy a pair of speakers and connect to them to the sound port at the back of your computer. You can place the speakers on either side of your monitor so that you will get a built in effect.

No. Buy some computer speakers and plug them into the sound card "out" plug (green on most current computers) in the back.

If you look at the back of your computer you will find some colored connectors. Most speaker connections are colored coded to match those connections. Just plug them into the correct colors and you will have sound.

no your supposed to plug it in to the green connection for audio out on the back of the computer
