I took that particular verse to say that when you raise your child into the Word, no matter how much they rebel, when they become older they will return to it because the foundation was already set. Similarly, what you were stating about people who say they don't believe and then later change their minds is also exactly on target.

Some may, some may not. I know that every person that used to believe in God that I know and turned away were Catholic, because Catholics don't practice real praise and worship. I used to go to a Catholic school, and had I stayed, I would've felt the same way. Those who knew God and practiced worship and actually had a relationship with Him, and turned from Him ultimately feel His presence when deciding to go the opposite way. Truthfully, when you think about it, it takes so much more energy to sin than it does to be good, and there's always far more reprocussions to sinning or doing wrong. There's a video floating around online about a guy who ran his SUV through the dealership and set the place on fire all because he felt he was ripped off. Why? What do you accomplish? What next? Does that make everything better? Did you get any money back? I always feel a tugging feeling on my heart when I decide to do something against God's will, and would feel completely void and empty if I decided to completely backslide and go back to my old ways. They'll always know, and always feel God, but ultimately it's going to come down to if they'll decide to come back after running out of logical excuses for the ways God decided to protect them while they went astray.

I started out a Christian and then saw how false and egotistical most were. Modern, so called Christians are changing the church entirely and so quickly that it can only be a matter of time before they preach hell is good!
Travel round the world and see what is done in the name of Christianity and see if you still want to believe.
Look at the Christian outpourings on this site alone trying to thrust the religion down Every one's throats.
Once people have seen the hypocrisy behind most Christians and particularly in the behaviour of "Born again Christians" they will never return.

do you think that, those who believed that the world was flat at one time would go back to believing that at some point. Most people stop believing because they break free of the programming and can see past the lies, even though I have not seen the planet from the outside I know that it is round. Its about using your mind to think for yourself at some point and not just follow just because your parents and friends and community does.

Been there, done that. And, NO! I will not ever believe in fairy tales again. That was that a morbid, guilt-filled period in my life. Glad I finally pulled my head out of my BUTT and can live knowing that this is my life, and when it is over, it is over. Live. Make the best of it. Stop wasting time praying to somethig that simply does not exist.

you're equivocating. even as someone says "i position self belief in God," it is an similar as "i believe God exists." it truly is because "believe" has quite a few meanings, counting on context. One an use maximum the different be conscious to illustrates an similar concept. for instance, take the be conscious "reason." it ought to represent "justification," consisting of contained in the sentence "What reason do I actual must believe that?" it ought to also propose "motivation, as in "I see no reason to get away from mattress today." The context comes to a decision which use we are making.

You should listen to the recording "The Broken Christ" , where it says that God uses His left hand when people go away, but His hand is never cruel, because it is guided by love.
I have seen it happen with friends of mine, who went away, but they came back when things got difficult

Yes, I believe those REALLY faithful ones deep inside will come back from their "separation" from God and redeem themselves as His righteous children. ^__^
