Yes, I started talking to a man on-line and now we are very good friends. If you talk to someone long enough on-line, then the phone, you can tell if it's safe to meet them. Then meet for the first time in a very public place.

Yes I have...many friendships. I used to be involved with yahoo groups and made several great friends through that. Three of us finally met last year...one taking the train from NY to Ohio where I met her, then the two of us took a road trip to southern indiana to meet another friend. I have met a lot of friends this way. A former significant other that I was with off and on for more than 2 years I met through another yahoo group. My current, I met through myspace - granted, there wasn't much back and forth until we actually did meet in person.

I met a fun group of people on an aol message board when I first got on the internet in '97. Most of us still email as a loop. In fact, I call them my "Loopies". I have met some of them in person. I travelled with one, and we shared a hotel room at a conference a few years ago, where another Loopie friend was speaking. We always send birthday e-greetings, and Christmas cards by snail mail. We're tight!

Yes, I met an ex-fiance on mIRC...
We dated for over a year, I visited frequently, he visited frequently, I moved to be closer to him, stared a new life, new job... and six months later he dropped me like a hot potato... he decided his life as an officer in the NAVY was more important to him.
Eh, it happens.
