Yeah It's called text messaging if your phone is capable of that.
And you would need to have nationwide long distant to go along with that, and yes send the text to her phone number.

If you mean text messaging, both of you will have to be able to receive texts. When sending texts, you type her phone number on the "to who" line.
Emailing by phone is the same, except you type in her email address on the "to who" line.

Does she have an IM address? Yahoo account? Or any kind of account? If you are asking if you can e-mail her phone, some mobile phones have that capability.
