i think if people are actual fans of a football player, they should at least know how to spell his name/nickname correctly.

The media had a lot to do with his legend status! He is a good player, but he is NOT the greatest soccer player in the world by far! He had good players around him in this World Cup that weren't given enough credit for Frances success. Henry is one of them. The media gave Zidane pretty much all the the credit for Frances success.
Besides in order for me to say Zidane is one of the greatest players ever he would of needed to score AT LEAST ONE goal against Italy. He didn't! Penalty kicks don't count a lot of players make penalty kicks! Besides he barely made his kick in this World Cup. The great players step up in big games. He didn't!

definitelty, I think that he is one of the best players the world has ever seen. It doesn't matter to me that he was sent off in the final, i think that with trezeguet missing the penalty it is easy for people to blame zidane, but in the end trezeguet would have taken a penalty anyway.
Back on point though, zidane is awesome. Top Billing.

a great player he was........but an idol...........never.....what the french did was shameful........made him into a hero while so many know of his previous attacks on players........I guess in most countries you are put to shame for acts of savagery.......in France instead you are made a hero.....by their President of all people.........what does this say about the french?...............that they are tolerant?.........or imbeciles?........or hypocrites?.......You think people who follow soccer on a regular basis aren't aware of Zidane's past history?......Do you not know that we are all aware of those images from France with cars set ablaze...the rioting by immigrants.......how dare you call others racists......when in the end no racist remark was ever uttered.......I guess you can say NO.....I'm not a Zizou fan....there will always be this black cloud over his name and it is for his actions......his repeated acts of violence....which are only pardonable when a full apology to everyone for everything is submitted!!!!!!

despite his headbutting in the world cup final, he is still deemed as one of the greatest players of all time. his elegance, balance and emmence skill on the ball is truly magical. many had said that zizhou was finished, but he proved them all wrong at the world cup. and just to clarify, he headbutted the guy bcuz he had said to zizhou: " an ugly death on you and your family".....zizhous mother was in hospital at the time. zidane = genius.
