There are so many fields of business out there with so many opportunities for being self-employed. I would like to find one where I can create my own schedule & be able to start working for myself within a year. Any ideas?

Yes, I am self-employed. The thing you need to check out is where the market is at. You need to find a product that is beneficial to everyone. I have found just that. This is something you can do while working at a conventional job and your aspirations to be fully self-employed within a year are more than achievable. When you have an excellent support team who are all earning over 6 figures, and willing to mentor you every day, you can achieve your goals in less time than that.

I started working for myself as an advertising agent of sorts for a Fortune 500 company. Basically I promote the company and make a residual income. I was self employed all of my life. Every phase of construction was my business. From designing houses to contracting the building of them from a patch of woods to a complete house including lawn, walks, and driveway.
Conditions for getting into the contracting business varies from area to area, and changes with time.
Whether it's for you would depend on your finances in getting started, your ability to learn, and your willingness to work very hard in getting started.

What you want is a low cost business to start up.
Conventional businesses cost big money.

I am a certified animal massage therapist. I work for myself, set my own schedule, make great $$$, and alleviate suffering in animals. Who could ask for more than that?
