Ok, well i've asked this question before and didnt really get any good answers so i'm hoping i will get some this time.

Basically what you need to do is anaylse the song TORN by Natalie Imbuglia.I need you to anaylse each paragraph telling me what you feel this song is about.

I thought I saw a man brought to life
He was warm
He came around
And he was dignified
He showed me what it was to cry

Well you couldn't be that man I adored
You don't seem to know
Or seem to care
What your heart is for
I don't know him anymore

There's nothin' where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothings right
I'm torn

I'm all out of faith
This is how I feel
I'm cold and I am shamed
Lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed
Into something real
I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
You're a little late
I'm already torn

So I guess the fortune tellers right
I should have seen just what was there and not some holy light
But you crawled beneath my veins
And now, I don't care
I have no luck
I don't miss it all that much
There's just so many things
That I can't touch
I'm torn

There's nothin' where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That's what's going on
Nothing's right
I'm torn
Chorus

First, I recall reading that Natalie Imbruglia didn't write the song herself; it is actually a cover from another band. Obviously, she 'gets it' as she's done an amazing job of making it her own.

I interpret the song to be about the disappointment that sets in when you see someone you had been intimately involved with for who they really are, and not who you had taken them to be.

Illusion and imagery are predominant in the song and are combined with the idea of not being able to discern what is real, or who to trust.
E.g. Do I trust myself? I was wrong - he's not who I thought he was. Do I trust the fortune teller? Logic says I shouldn't, but seems she was right.

"There's just so many things I can't touch" could be interpreted as "If I can touch it, then I can know it to be real, and I can trust it. I don't know what is real, I don't know who to trust, and I am disappointed when I misplace my trust."

"There's nothin' where he used to lie
My inspiration has run dry
That's what's going on "
These lines speak to the discovery of the "truth" and the dissolution of an inspiration that was based on a lie. Oh, and the obvious heartbreak that goes along with all that, of course...

The beauty of songs is that they are open to interpretation and everyone will see them differently. This is the basis of what I see in "Torn." Suggest you be more specific if you're looking for more insight on a particular line. Oh, and trust your own opinions on this, there's not really a wrong answer.

She's broken hearted. She should have known he was a snake, but she thought he was an angel (hence the holy light reference). "There's nothing where he used to lie" should tell you everything you need to know about this song. She pretty much spells it out for you.

This song is about a very common problem between men and women. Women see men as little do-it-yourself projects. They think that they can change a man or "fix" whatever they think is wrong with him. How many girls do you know who have become disillusioned or disappointed because they weren't able to mold a man into their ideal? "I thought I saw a man brought to life." She thought she "fixed" him, but when he failed to keep up the act to keep her happy, her world fell apart. It wasn't HIS fault!

Yeah, pretty much as stated above. She found a guy who seemed to be perfect but he turned out to be quite the opposite. Also you have the parts where the situation has tainted her other perspectives she believes that anything that is perfect is flawed.
