My kids will always be my babies and sweethearts.

This would be any father that truly loves his daughter. It does not mean that she is more or that he is doing something to her or has anything for her. Most fathers will never let their little girl grow up in their eyes in a sense of thinking. It does not mater how old they are. They will always be refered to as baby, sweetheart, honey, darlin, or whatever name they choose. Most of the time when you hear a father using one of these terms, you can almost gurantee yourself that this father has true love and respect for his daughter and will always try to protect her.

All of the names you listed are pretty common for Southern people to use. Where are they from? My daughter is 20 and I just sent her an email in which I called her babe no less than 3 times. I think its just a phrase, nothing more.

My dad calls me baby, babe, sweety, hon... Father daughter relationships last for an eternity. She's always his little baby, no matter if she's grown and aged. there isnt anything inappropriate about a father calling his grown daughter baby. My dad still calls me by my nickname from when i was 5. and iam married and pregnant and grown...

unless you've had a daughter yourself you cannot understand the bond. Its very special.

I'm 25 and still get called Daddy's babe!! Bless 'im!

You obviously don't trust him - maybe that is the problem more than the endearing terms... Is he doing anything else wierd with his "daughter" to make you think it is strange?

My Daddy called us girls by endearments, (among other things, lol), and there was no harm in it. Unless this man is displaying inappropriateness, I see no harm.
For Pete's Sake! Whatever moves me in the moment is the way I speak to my sons, and they know it. I probably embarrassed them as teenagers. That's okay; they embarrassed me then, too.
I would say lighten up. A parent is a parent forever.

Why are you probing into this? Are these people in your immediate family? If they aren't,then it is none of your business. After all we aren't talking about a child here we are talking about a 34 year old consenting adult.Who are we to judge other people? I am sure she knows right from wrong. It is all most likely quite innocent and even if it isn't,it is their business not anyone else's.

My father does the same thing to me - its just that my father and I are really close - but I resent the fact that you are suggesting an inappropriate relationship just because of the nickname - or maybe its jealousy because you arent close with your father?
