Ok geniuses.... Sandler is not a stand-up comic. Neither is Jim Carrey.
Bill Hicks, who started doing comedy at the age of 15 by sneaking out to clubs in Houston, was very innovative, but he didn't pave the way. Most of the road was paved by Lenny Bruce and then moreso by Geroge Carlin. Richard Pryor paved the way for African-American comics.

Adam Sandler because he has not only appeared in Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, The Waterboy and the Longest Yard, some of the funniest movies of all time, but he was a regular on Saturday Night Live, and he was Hilarious

I totally agree with Bill Hicks, I also have a soft place for Sam Kinnison. Whay are all the good ones dead? Hicks is great though, maybe the best ever.

For me---I, myself, am the best comedian. I laugh internally at stuff that tickles me all day long, just based on observing the human condition (and I mean that in the nicest way!). I have no aspirations to be a humorist, so these observations are private chuckles just for me, or to share with my family later.

I agree... Bill Hicks was the funniest man on the planet, if you listen to his act today it's still sounds relevant.

I think Robbin Williams, it's like he cant stop being funny. Ive seen him try to act serious and he can only last about 4 minutes tops.

I say George Carlin just cuz he's so friggin' brillant... not only w/ comedy but with everything .. I may not agree w/ all of his opinions but he's not just trying to make you laugh, he's trying to invoke thought or discussion or friggin' reality ..

Richard Pryor has to be one of the top ones. Why? Just watch old tapes of him.
