This is a real groaner, but funny. I bet you reel in a lot of people with your humor or do you catch a lot of flak for it, or are you trolling for compliments. I could go on and on, but I must stop or I'll be floundering around for hours.

you can always wait with baited breath, bad breath, or minty fresh breath...but it might be better and healthier in the long run to not depend on fishing for compliments...to know deep within yourself that you are worth it so you can appreciative when others compliment you, but when they don't....there's other fish in the sea.

Better you should wait with bated breath! If your cakehole is full of nightcrawlers your only admirers are likely to be the early birds.

"Bate" is defined "to moderate or restrain (a variation of "abate"): to bate one's enthusiasm, and, "to lessen or diminish," and "with bated breath - in a state of suspenseful anticipation."

But then again, there's at least one type of "bated breath" that would not be much of an improvement over your Diet of Worms: In a tannery, "bate" is a substance, often made from fermented animal dung, used to remove hair and the outer protein layer from the hide.
