Tunisia is a great place; its warm there, but not the same kind of swealtering heat that most desert like climates throw out, even when it gets to about 40 degrees it doesn't feel like ten degree more than a warm day in england.
There's plenty to do, the beaches are great, and its on the med, which is great, the locals are very accomodating and if history is your thing then you can go see some ancient colonies, hannibal, dido, etc. Camels are real cool too.

I live in Tunisia. It is a very nice, friendly, safe, historical and cultural place.
What your trip will be like will depend on what part of the country you are going to. You will have a different experience from visiting the mountains, to the Sea, to the Sahara.
If you send me a message and let me know where exactly you are going, I can give you as much details as I can about that place and tell you some things to pack.
No matter where you go, you'll enjoy yourself!

We went a couple of years ago and had a great time. It depends whether you plan to stay in your hotel and sunbathe, in which case you might as well be anywhere or if you want to get out and about and see stuff, in which case its an absolutely top place to go.
Depending on whereabouts you're staying: try Dougga (Roman town), Cathage, Tunis, El Djem (has an ampitheatre which was used in film Gladiator and an excellent mosiac museum), Kairouan etc.
If you like Arabic food (couscous etc) you'll find some good restaurants.

I went 3 times years ago. Nice place, very hot, obviously full of Arabs. Stayed in an all inclusive hotel. Sahara Beach.
Sidi Bu Said is a nice place to visit.
Be careful when you go outside of the hotel though as my mum and dad went into the town on their own and got cornered by a couple of locals, forced to hand over all their valuables.
They reported it to the police but they weren't really interested.
May have changed now (probably worse) but this was over 20 years ago.

Chott el Gharsa, Ajim, Matmata, Ksar Hadada all boast locations which were used in the Star Wars films (if that's the kind of thing you're into).
