unfortunately because most black directors try to only target a black audience. The problem with that is there have been studies done on movie goers and the white population makes up the majority of movie goers in the US. So if your going to strictly target a black audience then you should be prepared for the fact that your not going to pull in the same type of money a project that appeals to everyone will.

Thank god it's not a Spike Lee project , or he will be on the T.V. blaming everyone else but himself for why it didn't do well at the box office.

Well,
the "black" movies I have seen are primarily geared towards a "black" audience. I grew up in a predominatly black neighborhood and I can appreciate the scripts of some of these flics but most white folks can't stay in tune with the typical storylines of flics based on black culture. I don't think there is any boycotting or racist undertones related to the numbers involved. The last time I had a real heart to heart with a black person about issues on both sides of the tracks. We both came to the realization that there's just a lot things blacks and whites just don't know or understand about each other. Maybe this plays into the numbers.

Either way...it's a good observation.
