Bought one at auction in about 1987 which was 6 months old. Fantastic value for money, roomy and fast, never lifted the bonnet for 2 years. Never let me down till well old and neglected. Ok no street cred but married with kids? Finally crashed it down The Old Kent Road. Did serious damage but managed to drive it home. Tried it the next day but it caught fire, we put it out luckily. Then amazingly 2 days later I went back to it only to find someone had nicked it!!! Must of had a lorry and taken it for spares. I had taken out all the valuables and paperwork the day before, good thing eh. Didn't have the cheek to claim insurance loss, well they would never believe it. It was only worth about 50 notes before the crash anyway. Definitely an icon.

motoring icon, the montego ruled, especially the estate with the little child seats in the back meaning you could fit 5 adults and two kids in the back, that meant if my dad had considered the various offers from sexy women due to the montego sex appeal then he would have only have had to have rejected 3 or 4 of them as they could fit in easily with all the space.

MG turdo was rapid but it suffered the fate of all British cars.......It was underfunded and under developed right from day one. They were a comfy old bus though. Ah who am I kidding, all brit cars were shite and continue to be so because we dont invest!
