I would not rely on the answers on yahoo. This could be very dangerous if the information is wrong. You need to call the manufacturer or a gun shop to find the correct answer.

Ok first let me say that the warnings posted here apply. I have already read two answers that could be very bad for your health and well being. Yes you can fire .38 Spl. ammunition in a .357 Mag. Revolver with no ill effects as a matter of fact it was partially designed with that in mind. That being said it is very important that you clean the cylinder out very well if you do a lot of .38 shooting in a .357 before you return to .357 Mag. this will make sure that you do not have any issues with extraction and pressure. Contrary to one of the other posters information you can not shoot a .410 shell in a .45 you can shoot it in a .45 Long Colt on the other hand, which some people will try and fire a .45 ACP out of. This is not recommended. It is always best if you are unsure of something that you contact the manufacturer or consult a knowledgeable instructor before you try anything that could cause you or those around you any harm. There are a lot of different calibers that seem to be the same at a quick glance and I have seen many many mistakes over the years with mis-matched ammo too firearms especially when people buy the ammo from big box retail outlets like Walmart and others where the staff does not have a really strong backround in firearms. If you have any other questions feel free to drop me a note and I would be happy to help. I have been involved in firearms, knife, and self defense instruction for over 25 years. Be careful and good luck.

a million: a semi-motor vehicle fires one shot each and each and every time the set off is pulled: it ought to then be released and pulled back to fireside back. finished-computerized will keep firing at a extreme price till the mag is empty. finished computerized guns are exceptionally regulated in this usa, and in a pistol: no longer quite functional. 2: they're an similar diameter: only one is called by technique of the diameter of the barrel, and the different named by technique of the diameter of the bullet. The .357 is longer and better useful, and a .38 particular revolver received't have a lengthy adequate chamber, nor be solid adequate to fireside a .357 magnum. a great number of cartridge are named with numbers that are close, yet no longer extremely precisely a maximum ideal measurement. the reason being that there are a form of cartridges with an similar diamter bullets, yet are distinct strengths and ability and in many circumstances thoroughly distinct designs. for instance: .40 4 particular should be fired in .40 4 magnum pistols. there is also a .445 large magnum it truly is only a magnum magnum it is an similar diameter as the different 2. .40 5 Colt, .454 Casull, and .460 S&W are an similar way in spite of the distinct numbers.

Yes, it is callibretically feasible, as well as I have seen it done, on a range with a set of Colt Revolvers.
I would not reccomend the discharge of any Firearm loaded with an incorrect ammunition though, that is just plain stoopid.
.45 and .410 are also very simmiliar. A .410 shell shot can be fired from a .45 derringer with ease.

Can you shoot .38 Special through a .357 revolver? Yes. HOWEVER: Please clean the entire revolver until it sparkles before shooting .357 magnum after shooting .38SPL in your gun. Failure to do so could result in dangerous overpressure due to excessive leading. Overpressure = catastrophic failure of the metal, resulting in severe injury or possibly death. That's bad.

Yes, as long as it's a revolver. One of those automatic magnums--Desert Eagle is one--won't take them.
