If she is happy, health & thriving then please, don't worry. don't give the poor kid a complex about her size before she can even walk! My son looked like the Michelin tire man & he was not only perfectly healthy & beautiful, but he's perfect now. Don't obsess over her weight - that's one of those things that will change & change & change over the next couple of years. My daughter was 22 1/2 lbs for 2 years - very tiny.

My daughter is 5 months and weighs 17 lb. As long and her height and weight even out and she is proportionate i don't think you have anything to worry about except that you have a big baby. My daughter is a big baby and they say that she is in the 95% of children her age. she wears 6-9 months clothing and loves to play on the floor. Rolling and trying to sit up is her game right now. soon she will be crawling and walking and running so i'm more worried about my house and the peperations i need to make before all that happens ahhh

My daughter just turned a year old two days ago. When she was 6 months old she was 21 pounds. She's 25 pounds now but is 31.5 inches tall. Her weight gain slowed down between 9 months and now. She just started walking on her own this month as well. If you doctor is not worried don't be at all. Mine always told me Elizabeth was off the charts on her weight and stayed in the 90% on her height.
I'm sure as soon as your baby starts getting the hang of crawling at lightening speed and walking, her weight will slow down. I never worried about my little chunky monkey before, I figured well she's just a little chubby and as soon as she starts walking it will come off.

My first three boys and my girl were 20 pounds by six months. Number four was just barley 14 pounds, but we were dealing with a heart condition that prevented his growth. I think a lot depends on their birth size, my smallest was 7 lbs 6 oz and the largest was 9 lbs 4 oz. Big babies tend to stay big babies and now and then a little one will grow like a weed. If the doctor is not worried, then she is doing great! Children tend to grow out (short and chubby) then up (tall and lean) during their early growing time. Your daughter sounds wonderfully normal. Enjoy her, babyhood disappears so fast!

When my son was 7 months old he weighed 22 pounds. He is at the top percentiles for his height and weight and doc says he's doing great! I really wouldn't worry about the weight. As babies approach 1 year old, their weight will start to level off quite a bit.

I know what you mean. My oldest son was 21 pounds at 4 months! He was always at 95% for height, and over 100% for weight. He was breastfed exclusively, so his doctor said not to worry about it. Of course, I still did, especially as everyone always had a comment about my chubby baby! They were generally positive, but some were just veiled as being nice. (Oh, what a big boy. He must be hard to carry all the time...{said with a smile}). He was a little slow to roll over and crawl (he crawled at 8 months), but he got to it eventually. And when he started walking (at 13 months), he really leveled off. He is now 4 years old, and still at 95% for height and weight.
So, as long as your doctor isn't concerned, then don't worry! (Easier said than done, I know.) She will even out eventually, as long as you continue to feed her a healthy diet. In the meantime, you'll just have to smile at anyone who makes a comment, and remind yourself that she really is doing great.

My daughter didnt weight quite that when she was 6mo but she was large for her age too. People would always say what a big girls she was with her little rolls on her legs and arms. She was a preemie just 4lbs 18oz when she was born. I too was concerned about her weight, and my doctor said she was doing great. Sure enough when she started crawling a lot and pulling up she did even out some. Your daughter may just be a little bit bigger than other children her age. AS long as your DR says that everything is ok then just relax and enjoy her.

My baby girl was real heavy and off the charts on her weight she is still kind of chunky and is 2 years old she now weighs about 33 lbs but she is very active and eats what everyone in the house eats I think she will just be big boned but not fat cause now she is getting taller. I wouldn't worry as long as she is not obese and active

I wouldn't worry. My 8 month old girl just weighed in at 21lbs, 4oz today. My husband and I are both slim, and I was a chunky baby myself. She has just started crawling in the past couple of days.
