Can you feel the love for the Yankees? What is the problem? I happen to know that statiscally it is not the Red Sox and the Yankees actually have a better D than Sox. The best D is actually another team than these two. So take all that you think you know and can it about the Sox because the Yankees are actually better than they are. Not the best at D, but better on D.

Source(s):

I checked ESPN sports

The Red Sox have the best fielding percentage in the league, which by my knowledge is the only way to check who the best defense is. I do not care what ESPN's non scientific rankings say.

There should be a separate section unders the sports listing in Yahoo! Answers titled "Red Sox vs. Yankees" so the rest us don't have to read all of the garbage you guys post against each other... We all know that the Yankees have won the most World Series titles, but that the Red Sox have won one more recently, so you don't need to keep arguing about who is better... Historically the Yankees are the better team, and Red Sox fans have always struggled with that fact. Debating who has a better defense for 2006 doesn't settle your bigger issue...

Rangerfan, if you don't want to read this, why respond?

There are a lot of other factors to consider for Fielding than just Fielding %. The sabremetric geeks look at things like range, arm, and other things. I think the Sox have the best Defense by far in Baseball right now, Especially infield.

If someone really wants to, they can statistically prove that the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are the best team in baseball (I saw this done on Fox Sports Net last year).

We all know statistics can say anything you want. For example, the Yankees with the highest payroll won't even make the playoffs. Or...the Yankees supposedly have all these so-called World Series titles but I haven't seen them win one and I've been following baseball for over 5 years now.

Sorry, but fielding percentage is a poor way of rating defense.

I love that old saying, "Figures don't lie, liars figure."

Go Red Sox!

Perhaps if their third baseman (whom shall remain nameless) didn't make an error every other play, maybe they'd have a solid defense.
