My progesterone was low at 4 weeks right at 15 and my doc said should be 20, she put me on progesterone suppositories(yuck) but I have read that progesterone supplements really don't work. That a pregnancy with low progesterone is doomed from the start, and that progesterone supplements only prolong a doomed pregnancy. Has anyone heard or encounterd this? Or have you had a successful pregnacy with low progesterone after taking progesterone suppliments, I have a call in to my doc but have not heard back yet

I am currently on progesterone suppositories as well. This is my 5 pregnancy that I have had to use them and all of the pregnancies have been fine. If you read the information that comes with the medicine, it will freak you out. I know it did me the first time. You will need to be on them until around 12 weeks when the placenta begins to took over. I can only give you my personal experience. And, it has saved my pregnancies, no question. Try to relax and know that since your doc picked up on this, then you are in good hands. Best of luck to you.

I've never heard that before. Will you let me know what you find out? With the technology ,research, and medicine levels we've attained by 2006, anything is possible. I honestly think if it was doomed, the doctor would have let you know and not put you through any unnecessary treatments. Usually when a pregnancy is doomed, they want to expel the fetus asap. I can't imagine them giving you supplements for nothing.

I've heard that if it's low they do give you supplements, but I've never heard about it not working and having a bad pregnancy. My progesterone was normal when I was pregnant...
Since your Dr. can't seem to call you back, you may need to get a second opinion or ask another OB/GYN. That's what I would do.

Good luck with everything....
