Have any girls out there ever donated their eggs? What was the procedure? Did it hurt? Did you really receive 5k to 10k, like some places claim that they pay? Please let me know.

This is for real... You get paid what your contract says :-)

I have heard a lot of stories. All positive. Once you're convinved you really want to do it and are accepted to the program, things start to move along.

The procedure (in brief) is stimulating your ovaries to produce multiple ova in a cycle (using hormone shots); egg retrieval (the eggs are aspirated from your ovaries, usually under general anesthesia) and then are combined with the sperm of the father to form embryos.

The process isn't fun. It's a lot of shots, vaginal ultrasounds, blood tests, etc. You can get bloated & have a variety of side effects from the injections. You can feel sore after the retrieval...

I am in The UK and donated eggs last september. In the UK it is illegal to receive payment for donating your eggs. The only money you can get is travel costs.

In America, I know you can sell you eggs. How much for though, I don't know.

The procedure is the same as for IVF except the eggs are not fertilised with your partners sperm and put back into you.

Basically, you have hormones to downregulate your ovaries. Then more hormones to stimulate them again, then a hormone to ripen the eggs ready for ovulating, then you have egg collection just before the eggs release themselves. Timing is crucial.

I had a short portocol where I didn't need to downregulate my ovaries. I just had hormones to stimulate them from when I was on my period for about 2 weeks then egg collection.

As for being on the pill, you need to come off it, have your withdrawal bleed and then have a natural bleed before you can start the treatment as the artificial hormones in the pill will interfere with the other hormones they give you.

Sperm is a lot a lot less puzzling to donate than an egg is. All you should do is spill in a cup once you're male. for a lady there is actual some surgical operation in touch. Plus females only have a constrained kind of eggs even as adult males can always produce sperm.

I'm not 100% sure on what happens, but i was looking into it myself...they put you on a hormone boost for a while, monitoring you, and then they harvest your eggs, and yes they really do pay that amount, but you have to check out the place you go, make sure it's legit. it's not suppose to hurt at all, but all the extra hormones in your body can defiantly mess with you a bit.

My sister is getting ready to next month. $5k plus expenses. Not all places pay that much and it really shouldn't be your only motivation. The parents have to pick you as the donor and you have to undergo a psychiatric exam.
