I would mix 2 tablespoons RICE cereal in a 6 oz bottle of his formula, (make sure the nipple on the bottle is free flowing enough) shake it up REALLY well and warm it up to the normal temp that he drinks.

I gave that to my son in the morning when he got up, before his afternoon nap and before he went to bed.

From there, give it a little time to make sure he isn't allergic (at LEAST 3 days) and then you can try giving it to him from a spoon if you like, just mix 1 tablespoon of cereal with about 4 tablespoons (around an ounce and a half) of his formula.

I kept my son on just the bottle form until he was about 4 and a half months old, and then offered him cereal from a spoon.

Be expecting a little bit of gas from the new food, so make sure to warm the bottle and offer some mylicon gas drops.

Once you go to spoon form he can have it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, adjust the amount according to how hungry he is, i usually made about 3 tablespoons of cereal and mixed in the formula until the consistency was thin, but not runny.

In between cereal feedings just give him bottles as normal.

My son's schedual was
6am- 6oz bottle
9am- cereal
12pm-6oz bottle
3pm- cereal
6pm- 6oz bottle
8pm(or just before bedtime)- bowl of cereal and a 4oz bottle

Be sure to offer all the different types of cereal before you move on to other baby foods!

Good Luck!

Only 1x a day until 6 months old. At first keep the consistency pretty watered down, and feed it with a spoon. Your baby will not eat very much of it at first. Just try getting him used to the new routine. If he seems resistent to it after a few days, stop for a while and then try again. You dont want it to be anegative experience for him. 4 months old is the very youngest you are supposed to start the cereal, so he may not be ready for it. A lot of babies arent ready until 6 months old. Also, do not put it in a bottle. The whole point is to get him used to eating in a highchair and being fed with a spoon. The cereal box will state, and so will your pediatrican, to not put it ina bottle. I know many people will tell you they do this, but it's against doctor's advice. Only in certain circumstances does a doctor recommend putting it in a bottle. My daughter never liked the cereal. It wasn't until she was 6 months old that she liked it because we added applesauce.

The "specialists" now evaluate waiting till 6 months before taking off some thing previous breast milk or formula, yet 4 months remains considered appropriate. I under no circumstances offered rice cereal, yet instead went with the child oatmeal, because it has extra foodstuff. My son is 4 months, and that i do not feed him on a commonplace foundation. I feed him possibly 2-3 days per week, and it is continuously only once an afternoon. i have fed him oatmeal, avocado, banana, and peas. in case you go with to commence your infant out on on a daily basis feedings, i'd supply him the cereal once an afternoon, and also you'll upload in a fruit or veggie for a 2d meal. in recent times, infant foodstuff is separated into ranges: degree a million and degree 2. degree a million is for 4 month old children, and it is continuously peas, sweet potato, prunes, and apple sauce. Take your %.. yet another determination is to mix the cereal with a fruit. Like, upload some cereal into banana infant foodstuff, and then upload a splash of water (including the cereal will make the child foodstuff thicker, so the water will make it smooth and creamy again). Then later interior the day feed him a veggie. i does no longer feed him better than two times an afternoon, as a results of the indisputable fact that is major that he receives the final public of his foodstuff from breast milk or formula. have thrilling! :)

1-2 tbsp a day of cereal with water, formula, or breast milk. The consistancy should be watery until baby learns to not spit it out. Then make it more thick like pudding when he can get use to it. If the baby won't open his mouth after a couple spoon tips of food, than take that as a sign that he don't want it right now... try later in day.

I always gave my child cereal first thing in the am and before bed. After they are used to it I stepped it up to three times a day morning noon & night. I would mix it to the consistency of a slushy (i hope that makes sense). You have to get special nipples for this y-cut or simply make the hole in your nipples a little bigger say with a tooth pick. Read on the back of the cereal and it will give you measurements to start off with. (I always put my cereal in the bottle until about five months when I started baby food.)

4 months should not be getting Cereal yet..and if you do only rice cereal. It could constipate your son. Only formula is good for the first 6 months. If you give him cereal only two tea spoons. Once or twice a day. No more. Plenty of water also.

Just give your baby about 1 spoon of cereal 1x per day. Start with rice cereal as it is the easiest to digest. Also, really thin down the cereal with water, breastmilk or formula to a soupy consistency until they get used to the new texture in their mouth.

start him out on very little bit cause cereal can cause constipation make it fairly running with a little consistency so that he can swallow easy and make it with his formula or breast milk which ever you use also with both my kids I made it with juice because it would constipate them. Also just add that to his normal schedule if he takes a bottle or breast every 4 hours just add the cereal to that feeding time

He should not start solids until he is 6 months old. Solids are mostly for fun and practice in the first year. Breastmilk or formula needs to continue to be his main source of nourishment. When you do start, go very slowly.

Babies shouldn't have ANY solid food before age six months. Their little tummies can't handle it. Also, if you start food too soon you put your babies at higher risk for type 1 diabetes. Talk to your doctor about it.
