well last time venus played was in the mixed doubles final at wimbledon. serena on the other hand, made her comeback this week she reached the semifinals of a western and southern financial womens open... but she lost to zvonareva.

If you mean the Williams' sisters, Venus is still playing, but didn't do very well at Wimbledon. Serena is injured.

Venus lost quite early at wimbledon this year,I don't know where Serena is though.

They were so dominant they had noone to really challenge them. The other players caught up. You need to play better players to improve your tennis game.
I think the death of their sister was a major factor as well.
