I want to take my 9 yr old daughter someplace fun. Please, keep in mind that I am 6 months pregnant so any theme parks etc. are not a good idea. I live in Rhode Island and will be driving to the location so anywhere in RI,MA,NH,ME,VT,NY,PA is good.

Boston's North Shore. Salem, Beverly, Marblehead. Tons to do on the cheap. Tons of other great things within day trip distance. And definitely a great trip for you in your condition. It'll be educational as well as fun TON'S of history..and I mean TONS in that area. And....you're on the coast..near the water ..(sigh)..and how can you beat that.

You found me out! I am originally from that area and miss it. Seriously..it is awesome! Enjoy if you go.

PS....to tie in with the above...Boston is 18 miles from Salem and Marblehead and you'll be staying in digs that are dramatically cheaper than in Beantown. But..you can still do the Freedom Trail..and all the other stuff.

i recomend a day in boston, the aquarium then maybe a duck tour and lunch in quincy market. Last weekend I babysat my twin cousins (both ten) and the girls had alot of fun. The duckboats can be a little pricey and I would call ahead to ask for times and reservations but other then that its a great day trip. Quincy Market and the New England Aquarium are within walking distance to each other, im not sure where the closest Duck Tours start however. I hope you and your daughter have fun :)
Ps isnt Little Rhodie the best state. Enjoy

Boston is a great city to visit. The aquarium there is fun for kids. Also, you can walk the Freedom Trail and see a lot of historical places that helped form our nation. The swan boats in Boston Common are inexpensive and fun, too. Plus, there is good food, and easy public transportation available!
