Someone is still connected fine through the router, but the wireless connection doesnt have a signal, and thus cannot get on the net. we are having server thunderstorms, so i was wondering can thunderstorms effect a wireless internet when the person connected through the router is still fine?

Your isp might be going down during heavy rain, or there is something wrong with the wireless router. I ran wireless from a neighbors open node(With his permission) and during heavy rains, usually lost the signal, but it worked most of the time. Are you on someone elses router? If so, you will just have to put up with it, or subscribe to internet yourself.

It is possible to be connected to the router wirelessly even if your modem has lost the connection due to power issues. Also a surge may have reset the wireless configurations on the router.

Yes, But the flashes of the lighting would cause only very short disconnections, not continues disconnection. If the wireless station is close to the router is would look elsewhere what causes it. Since you fail to mention other details i cannot give good hints

Yes. lightning causes disruption in wireless signals. if you have ever had a TV that only had antenna tuning, when lightning strikes(nearby) the signal goes fuzzy for a split second
