Ok let me start with what ftp means (file transfer protocol) usualy like http but on ftp you will see the listing of the files and folders from the ftp hosting.
You can search for public ftp's that have annonymous access. But usualy ftp's are accessed with accounts and maybe that's you when you are tying to click on a ftp link you need to insert an user and password to access the files from that ftp.

Hi there,
FTP Stands for File Transfer Protocol ..
ftp:// links shows its FTP link which will connect you directly with FTP server.
And Ya it needs little bit faster connection and little bit time to load data from ftp server.
Try to give ftp:// links to FTP Explorer or get CuteFtp kinda tools for downloading data from FTP sites
Hope you get into this soon.
Cheers

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. It is where a web developer goes to upload new pages for a website or make changes to that site. In order to access that site via FTP, you need a File transfer program, and then you need the server address, user name and password.
Basically, it's for people associated with that site to be able to maintain it.

ftp links are File Transfer Protocol links - they are used to download/upload stuff.
Usually if you click a link it will open in the web browser with just links in it - either sub directories or the actual files.

ftp links are File Transfer Protocol links. They are not Web Sites, that's why you can't enter them.
I'd advise against your downloading these things because they are the hackers' pet tools.
Cheers.

File transfer protocol.
Typically, a browser will show you a directory structure you can navigate and download from.
Or you can go to a cmd prompt and type ftp.[url].com.
The reason you sometimes don't see anything can be because the directories are either blank, secure, or don't allow browsing.

ftp:// means file transger protocol and it is used to send/receive files on the internet. To view a page, you have to use http:// (hypertext transfer protocol). ftp:// would work only if the server you are trying to hit is set it up to receive/send files.
