Which one(s) of these Southern states do you like best? Least? Why?
My picks:
Best --
-Tennessee, Alabama, Texas: All have A LOT OF geographical and horticultural diversity, great economies, and the friendliest people.
Okay--
-Arkansas: not a bad state, but it's way too flat in the eastern part. Just not for me.
-Virginia: absoultely gorgeous, but the people are kind of hateful; although, since it's on the I-95 Megalopolis corridor, that's to be expected, and they aren't really any less friendly than people in KY.
-Louisiana: Love the swamps, but not much of an economy, and a high crime rate.
Worst:
-Kentucky: Sure, it's beautiful, but the girls have awful attitudes, the state is rather boring, and the people are rude, impolite, and have absolutely no manners. It's awful! And all of those classless, redneck UK fans...annoying! "It's that friendly"...yeah right!
-Florida: it's dirty, flat, boring, and I can't stand all of those upper east coast transplants...also rude.

We have some of the best parks in the nation.. the NE corner of Mississippi is like the Smokey Mtns,,, lot to see and do at the Tennessee Tombigby water park.. You can visit Shiloh Battlefield up near Corinth also, and see the birthplace of Elvis in Tupelol..
Going across to the South West is Vicksburg,, another wonderful Battlefield site with lots of things to see and do at the park and in the city itself... the Courthouse Museum and the Candy store where the 1st Coke was made.... below there is Natchez ,, many antibellum homes to visit and plenty to see in the city also...
Now we are still recovering from Katrina on the Gulf Coast,, but we do have hotels and casinos open already....
Jackson, near where I live is the Capitol and has anything you would want as far as shopping or sightseeing,, nearby is the Resouvour to swim or boat,,, and visit Canton,,where the John Grisham books are turned into movies....
Try all that on.... and for hospitality,,, i will be glad to cook up some of the best fried chicken and homemade gravy with homemade biscuts you have ever eaten ,,,,,,,

Well, I can tell you that I absolutely love North Carolina! There is a large variety of "atmospheres"...there are mountains, the beach, alot of beautiful historic sites and towns, great college communities with plenty of excellent restaurants and clubs...the land, the trees, the scenery is beautiful! People are generally friendly and there, you get a wide variety also! Absolutely love, love, love North Carolina!
I don't like Florida! Too much bigotry, humidity and flat land! Really really don't like Florida!
Don't know much about Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas or Louisiana! Tennessee is a beautiful state but don't know much more than that! Virginia is a nice place to visit but wouldn't want to live there.

Best-
Alabama all the way! For some reason I was attracted to the state a year before I had gone to visit, but recently I went and it is certaintly the best state ever! It has the Muscle Shoals Sound Stuido (which is where a bunch of people recorded. Cher, Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd), and so much more. We saw pretty much the whole state and I love it all. People are so friendly there!
Okay-
Virginia. I live here so I'm finding it hard to diss my state, since I'm one of the people. But really, I don't like it that much. It's great because it's horse country and we have a racetrack (and some other steeple ones), but, and I know that this may sound stupid, I hate how inconsistant the accents are. I'm from southern VA and just north they talk southern, just south they talk southern, and then everywhere else it's a mix. I like in Alabama how you don't have to adjust your ear as much.
Also, the people here are pretty mean...I'll admit it. We're rather rude to tourists actually, not at all like in Alabama.

I now live in Tennessee and love the people here and all the beautiful places to visit.
I have lived a month to 3 months in each of these places too and found the people just as friendly and they all had great historic places to see.South Carolina,Florida and Texas.
I have visited these other places as a trip to have fun and I really enjoyed myself there.Alabama,Mississippi,Virgina and Arkansas oh and Kentucky.
I stayed a week in New Orleans,Louisiana for my honeymoon and it was the best place for the sites, the people and the great food.
I use to live in Illinois and found them stuck up and hard to please.I loved the land and farmed while living there.Illinois had the best winters with lots of snow, not like here where we barely have a winter now.

I have lived in Louisville, Kentucky all my life and I love it here. Yes, there are bad spots in Kentucky, but what state doesn't have them. There are tons of things to do, depending on what you are into, did you do a search on places to go, before came?. So what is wrong with the Kentucky Wildcats, what about the Louisville Cards? There are alot of teams out there that I don't care for, but I don't call their fans rednecks or any other names. We all have a right to be someones fan. Yes, there are a lot of girls with bad attitudes, but that is everywhere you go. Maybe you just hit on the wrong girls. Sounds to me that you visited Lexington and not any other part of the state. Louisville is where are the action is. Ever hear of the Kentucky Derby, Louisville is its home.
Don't knock a state until you have seen it all, everyone is not the same in each part.

Is Puerto Rico a State yet?
I like S Carolina. Has the best beach. Florida sucks, too trashy. Texas is nice sometimes and weird and obnoxious the other.
Virginia is beautiful but a little bit East Coasty if you know what I mean.

I can't believe you picked Kentucky as a worst state! I am from Kentucky and it is a completely gorgeous state with lots of things to do outdoors. There are horse parks, nice cities, and you can't forget about the Derby! Also, every guy I've ever met as said that Kentucky girls are some of the hottest they've ever met! I don't think our attitudes are awful! Maybe you just come at us with weird approaches. And the only time we're ever cross about sports is if you were a Duke fan.
Do you not consider West Virginia to be a southern state?
Out of all your picks, I like Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
Virginia is the absolute worst and Texas shouldn't even be considered a southern state!

My favorite would be Tennessee because I was born there and I love the nature there. TN has many beautiful parks and waterfalls. And, I happen to love seeing the rocks/stones in the side of the cut mountainsides when you're driving.
North Carolina would be my second pick because it's where I'm living now. It's also very beautiful and reminds me a lot of home.

I like Virginia best because of the diverse scenery and things to do. You have mountains and the ocean , etc. For the worst I would also choose Kentucky because I didn't think for the most part the people very friendly.

I've seen Arkansas and it's pretty, but I live in Texas and wouldn't voluntarily live anywhere else. Whatever kind of climate you like you can find in Texas: mountains, desert, hill country, plains, coast, city, country, you name it. You better like your winter clothes, though, because it takes forever to wear them out here. We only have about 2 weeks of winter.
I don't know about the other states. They may be really nice, but I'm very happy where I am.
