Bush was the governor of Texas. Lockheed Martin is THE largest Manufacturer of weapons and war materials. They are in Texas. We sell arms and weaponry to Israel. They are buying - we are selling. Bombs cost Billions of dollars. War is PROFITABLE. This spurs the economy-pushes up the price of oil etc. and keeps Bush and his friends very happy. President Bush is the " war president ". If President was serious about Peace he would've condemned Israel's actions and stopped the sale of arms like Ronald Reagan did in 1981. " I am the Decider ".He says.

I'm surprised that so many younger people misunderstand politics and the worlds current affairs... Israel has been being attacked by Hezbollah since they pulled out of Lebanon in 2000... Why is everyone so worried about a peace process now if they weren't worried about it for the past 6 years? Now that Israel has finally had enough with these terrorists and decide to stand up for themselves people feel we need a peace plan. Screw that if these terrorists think that all we're going to do every time they blow something up is talk peace then they're just going to keep doing it. They don't expect anyone to fight them that's why they hide in other countries. I think it's good that Israel is taking matters into their own hands... There will never be peace until terrorists are afraid of retaliation and there are none left. Therefore a peace plan is useless. So you know there was one already in place in Lebanon that the UN and the Clinton administration put together and that hasn't worked at all. Hezbollah was supposed to disarm and the Lebanese military move to the border of Israel for protection, but as I said terrorists don't want peace they want destruction and war, so until they are destroyed we should give them exactly what they're asking for and soon they will be gone...

If you're talking about what is going on with Israel and Lebanon... it's because he doesn't want peace. As long as they are fighting their "religious war" over there it's not happening on our turf. Many people hate Israel as much as they hate the United States but Israel happens to be a lot closer to many of those people so it's easier to fight there.

If you're talking about what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan he doesn't want a peace plan there either... well not just yet anyway. We have to finish building the 14 permanent military bases in Iraq so we can secure the oil wells and the energy future of North America. In Afghanistan we are working on building the oil pipeline to warm water ports so that is going along fairly good (relatively speaking). When those two things are done and the government is fairly certain we have the region under our thumb "peace" will come.

It isn't the American's war and it isn't the American's job to come up with a peace plan. The fighting was started by Hezbollah and Israel retaliated - what is it about this war that involves the USA as the solver of the conflict? Just because Israel is an ally, that does not make the responsiblity of solving their problem America's job. Besides, with our history in Iraq ( both times ) and going to back to Vietnam, do we really need to make bad situations worse by getting involved? NO.

Why does Bush always have to come up with a plan? Can't other nations think for themselves. You seem to be in the majority of stupid thought that anyone can come to some sort of peace plan with a terrorist group. Do we feel sorry for the terrorist now and the countries who harbor them? Don't be part of the mindless majority who believe everything the media says. Terrorists started this thing by kidnapping Israelis first.

Two of my neighbors down the street are in a big argument. What have I done if I just walk up and tell one, or even both, to simply stop?

If you will notice, very few or blaming Israel this time. Most of the world's leadership recognizes that Israel is just defending itself. Most of the world also recognizes that there is big and established diplomatic machinery already in motion and the US is just one small part of the process.

US president Bush does not rule the world, nor does he profess an ambition to do so. He is impatient with diplomatic talk that drags on and on and on. But even with Iraq and moving ahead of the UN came after pointing out a long list of UN resolutions that resolved nothing.

Because peace isn't profitable. War is.

Because peace does not benefit his political party. They prefer to keep people scared, as they are seen more tough on terrorism than Dems.

Because Peace is hard. War is easy.

Condelezza Rice (or however you spell her first name) is going over there right now with a peace plan. Look at yahoo's main page, and there is a link to the story.
