When I have "forgotten" my clothes that are clean in the washer, and they get mildew, I re-wash with about 1/2 cup of plain white vinegar-works every time. Add it to the water not directly on clothes.

Soak it in bleach for about 10 minutes. Not much longer or the bleach will eat through the fabric. Then wash it in a regular cycle.

If it is a bleach safe fabric, go ahead and soak it in bleach and water. If it's not a fabric that is bleach safe, wash the swim suit in vinegar.

Tell the mildew the suit makes it look fat.
