I don't know how to keep them away from you. But, what beach are you going to, I never get to see fish at the beach. I saw one at Waikiki and tried to find more. After like 4 hours nothing. Its was pretty depressing. I had to take pictures of cool rocks, that really weren't that cool, but I already had the camera.

bring a fishing pole and a net. If that don't work, eat lots of beans before going in the water & let rip with some bubbles.

nope. you're playin their game with you hit the water. but if you're swimming and moving around, they probably won't get REALLY close to you the whole time.
