when they preform they are very involoved in the music and they don't come across as conceded

Because they're mainstream and not only that but they're falling right into this punk fad (god I hope this fad doesn't last any longer, I'd rather have everyone acting gangster again) and the fact they're "such an awesome band" is a pigment in your imagination because what's mainstream is awesome, right?
I suggest pushing these social boundaries and explore other bands and other types of music that sound good and has meaning to you, not just because so-and-so like them.

They have been together for a long time and not lost their 'way.' Their songs are fun, fast, and easy. They find solid hooks. Good band, despite trying to be so political.
