I am looking for an "automatic drip" or replenishment system for keeping my toilet bowls full of water. the toilets at my vacation home are bone dry and it leaves a ring in the toilet. I thought maybe there is something like what folks use for a pets water dish that it fills up the water bowl after the pets have drank enough water. sometimes we are not there for months on end and the water is all evaporated...

If you take and put mineral oil in the bowl it will float on the surface of the water, which then keep the water from evaporating as fast. It works.

Use a drinking fountain plastic bottle that fits in the bowl at the right height with the neck of the bottle in the water about an inch. You may have to find a big water bottle to sit on the seat with a hose in the water depending on the bowl type. When we leave the house in AZ we do this. We also cap and fill all the sinks and turn off the supply to the house to prevent flooding. This is done because it was discovered some house items were being damaged because it was so hot and no humidity. This fixed that problem

If you shut off the water at the wall, then flush the toilet one (or two) last time(s) , it will not fill the bowl. Then, plug the bottom of the bowl with a rag (to prevent sewer gases from coming back into the house, in case the trap dries out -- it shouldn't but you should always take precautions, just in case). This way, there is no water to evaporate.

Wonder if covering and sealing the bowl with a sheet of plastic would retard the evaporation? At least it should keep the bowl full. But that might just move the ring up?

i guess the answers you received from your previous question did not suit your needs or your desires

it sounds like you just want to stop a RING AROUND THE BOWL??

just get some cleaner and clean it off

it only happens when the house is vacant

or you can try a waterless toliet system
if you have money to burn they are quite expensive

I would put a small washer under the flush valve-seat, to keep it leaking slightly all the time. That would require knowledge of the flush tank fittings. You have to figure out yourself, the procedure.
