A human bladder can at it's fullest capacity approximatly 1000cc of urine. I'm not sure that a person could willfully "hold it" long enough to cause rupture but I do know that if you have a full bladder and are in a car accident you risk having your bladder rupture on impact which can be life threatening very quickly. People with and obstruction are at risk for rupture.

No, if your bladder gets full about 300ml, nerve endings will signal the brain to give you the urge to pee. That's the reason why you get that awful urge to pee. There is no known case of ruptured bladder because no matter how long you hold, it will never take that awful 'full bladder' feeling that any human will resolve to find a means to pee including catheterization if indicated medically.

Obviously you have never had a bladder sonogram -- that's where they fill your bladder to bursting, then ask you to hold it while they take X-rays. I don't think your bladder will explode into bits -- it will just let go.

I don't think this is true. You would wet yourself before that happened you not be able to hold it. But it can cause you to get bladder infections if you hold it often.

Actually, Tyco Brahe (medieval Danish astronomer) is said to have died that way. Was quite a glutton and refused to leave the table, bladder ruptured, and he died of ensuing infection.

Your bladder will not explode. But it is not good to hold it! It can cause urinary tract infections if you do it all the time.

You cannot hold it voluntarily...you will eventually wet your pants but yes if people have obstruction...it can eventually rupture...rare these days as there are procedures to drain bladder even from your belly!
