I would use the place as mainy as a place to get away from the U.K for a few months a year...so need somewhere which is a relatively stable country and with possible good rental income the rest of the year...but not so important...mainly after good location..with natural beauty and is quiet..with locals nearby.

Stable country without problems with
Hurricanes, Vulcano, Earthquakes, Riots, Dictatorship regim, flood, Racism, Civil War.......(Tsunami)

50K£ Good to countries in development with these constraints.

1. Brazil:
NE: Near to Recife or Natal
S: (More secure and more civilized) Florianopolis, Bombinhas, Garopaba, Farol de Santa Marta
(House with 3 rooms, near to 200-250m² near to the beach)

2. India: Goa
- Tsunami possibility and not big problems about religions there.

3. Panama, El Salvador or other country in central america near to Venezuela (No Huricanes, beautiful sea near to USA or Mexico).

4. Australia, not east part, but west.

5. South Africa (English spoken everywhere, Stable, Seems quiet there)

6. Vietnam or Cambodja can be interesting, but I'd not put my bet there;

My honest advice... Before investing find the place most appealing to you...take a trip there...study their economic and political stability and them decide. You may find cheap places the world over...but you could well be throwing away your hard earned pounds($). Yrs ago I visited Spain's Canary Islands...there I meat lots of Britons who had bought real property there...nice places I may ad with lots of ocean views. I really never care to ask how much, though. Spain is a very stable country, Politically and Economically, low crime (Spaniards dont put up with the BS we put up here in the US) and real estate prices are still reasonable. Many Germans own property in the island of Majorca (not sure abt spelling). Only problem Spanish is their language and little English spoken by most people. I also like the coast of Portugal...though a little backwards in my opinion. Best of luck!

East London, South Africa.
Warm seas, wonderful beaches. I have a house there. It's a bit far to travel, but the people are friendly. Security must be tight, but it is the greatest place. I had lunch in a restaurant there while hippos wallowed just the other side of the restaurant's windows!

Sorry, but with 50 GBP, it will not buy much here in the states; you COULD go with a lake house in a less popular state as they are far less expensive, but beachside will cost you a fortune. I live in Huntington Beach, Califorina, surf city USA and beach houses here run at around 6 million USD.

I would say South Africa, particularly along the garden route, and property prices are increasing at 25% each year in places however parts of this country has a lot of violent crime so beware.

There are a few places you could consider, but 50K is not a great deal, however there are a few places where it can be achieved. Try Eluthera in Bahamas, Coast of Brazil is well priced. good luck.
